Every good deed begins with a caring and trusting heart. Sadly, there are people in the world who are eager to take advantage of the kindness of others. Old Glory Bank wants to help you honor your desire to help while protecting yourself from scams and fraud.
Before donating to a campaign, please spend time reading and reviewing the campaign description. Look for red flags, such as vague details about the cause, how the money will be used, or the beneficiaries to whom the funds will benefit.. If the beneficiary is a charitable organization, please research and review the website of the organization and its history. Legitimate charitable organizations are clear and transparent about who they are and whom they are helping. If the beneficiary is an individual (or group of individuals), read the campaign carefully to determine if the sponsor clearly explains a connection to the beneficiary(ies). While campaign sponsors must be Old Glory Bank customers, neither Old Glory Bank nor Old Glory Alliance independently verify the cause or the beneficiaries.
Some scammers will create charities or fundraisers that sound very similar to a popular, well-known cause. They hope to trick contributors into donating to what you might think is a legitimate cause. Always double-check the details of the campaign to be certain the person or charity it benefits is actually connected to the fundraising effort.
Never donate to campaign other than through our Old Glory Alliance website. Do not send a check directly to the sponsor or provide the sponsor any of your personal information. To ensure you have not been re-directed to an imposter website, confirm that you see https://OldGloryAlliance.com in the address bar of your browser. The only information we request in making a donation is your name, address, and credit card details. If you donate via Old Glory Pay, we only ask for your name. We do not share your address or credit card details with the campaign sponsor.
After making a contribution to a campaign, check back in to see how it is going. You should know before you donate how your money will be used by the sponsor, although please know that Old Glory Alliance is not able to independently verify the authenticity of any campaign. However, if we are provided credible information about a fraudulent or illegal campaign, we will take immediate action.
If you suspect you have encountered a fundraising scheme, you should report it immediately. This will help other people avoid being victims of the same scammer. Any suspicious campaigns on Old Glory Alliance should be reported immediately at alliance@oldglorybank.com.
